Signs of Bed Bugs
Determining if you have bed bugs requires proper identification. Look for these signs:
- Bed bugs are active right after feeding. Spotting them on a wall or bedding is a sure sign of there presence.
- Bites, welts, and rashes may be found on a persons body.
- Fecal trails are left behind by actively feeding bugs and can be found around areas of harborage.
Be sure to listen for and encourage people to report their bed bug issues! The longer they go untreated the stronger the infestation will become.
Treatment
In the past, dangerous applications were used to combat the presence of bed bugs. Plumber’s torches and candles were used to burn the bed bugs in metal bed frames. Kerosene was applied to bedposts, and sulfur dioxide was also used, but both were considered ineffective. In the 1950’s DDT was introduced and found to be very effective, but the environmental and health impacts were deemed far too costly. Even to this day, chemicals are used but bed bugs naturally develop resistances to the chemicals making them ineffective over time.
In the early 2000’s, a far more effective and eco-friendly method was introduced – HEAT. Through heat, the bugs are attacked in the one way they cannot defend. After being subjected to a high level of heat they will die off rapidly. All bugs, from adults, to nymphs, to eggs, are affected and killed.

The JobTrack system, accessible from the menu on the left, gives a quick and easy way to check on the project we are currently working on for them. Information such as the production schedule, signed documentation and progress photos are all easily found simply by logging in!
